The Dead's Revenge
09/21/03

The weeds were tall
The sky was gray
The fog was thick
The night awakes
The crows were silent
As they watched from the trees
The dirt began to shift
Shaking the grass and the leaves
The tree exploded
With a cloud of black crows
As a hand reached from the dirt
From his shallow grave, he slowly arose
He let out a shriek
That pierced the silent night air
The town people heard the cry and knew
He was on his way there
The mothers hugged their children
Into their basements they ran
They peeked out the window with fearful eyes
Hoping to survive if they can
He breaks through the door
Of one little brown house
The children cried in the corner
Their mother and father cried out loud
They tried to protect their children
But a few hits and they were gone
He towered over the little boys
He tore them up, and from his bloody mess went on
So when the morning was about to break
He left the ravaged town
He walked slowly back to his grave
And for another day rests underground.

Freedom Isn't Free
09/21/03

Rain lashing at my window
Thunder rattling the panes
Smoke fills the once clear sky
People trying to find the pieces
of their broken lives
What has the world done
What do they think they have fixed?
Freedom is what our country strives for
And now it's down to this

Broken hearts and broken dreams
It's all you'll find here.
We strive for freedom for the people
While locking ourself up, in our lives
And in our fears.
And so many people dead now, so many people now lost
Still can no one see?
That freedom isn't free

She looked into his saddened eyes
As tears fell down her face
The thunder cracked and lightning flashed
As he went limp in her embrace
Another life torn apart
Another soul wishes they weren't alive
But we are fighting for freedom here
And that's how it is justified

Broken hearts and broken dreams
It's all you'll find here
We strive for freedom for the people
While locking ourself up, in our lives
And in our fears.
And so many people dead now, so many people now lost
Still can no one see?
That freedom isn't free

A soldier sits with his best friend
Outside their camp for the night
They've got to keep watch for intruders
In case there may be a fight
He speaks of his secrets, of his fears and of his life
He thanks God above for such a friend
With whom he can share his happiness or strife
The bullets then fly through the air
As he watches his best friend fall
But it's alright, he'll get over it
Cause freedom is what they're fighting for

Broken hearts and broken dreams
It's all you'll find here
We strive for freedom for the people
While locking ourself up, in our lives
And in our fears
And so many people dead now, so many people now lost
Still can no one see?
That freedom isn't free

Lullaby Of The Night
10/07/03
Standing outside in the crisp cool air
Feeling the cool breeze pass through my hair
The stars are so clear, the moon so bright
The breeze carrying soft eddies of moonlight

The night is quiet, the heavens so calm
The crickets sing softly their lullaby song.
The trees softly whisper, their voices float through the air
An owl from their branches hoots softly without a care.

A night full of magic, feel it vibrate through the sky
Let the night sing you an everlasting lullaby
Listen to it's voice, for you can hear it nice and clear
Just listen good and for a moment know no fear.

For a moment you can close your eyes, and let go of the day
Let the breeze pass through you, take your pain and tears away
For a moment do not think but listen, silence has a lot to say
For a moment you're only here, now, no tomorrow or yesterday.

And when your day becomes too much to bear
And you think you may break down
Think of the nighttime coming to you
Make a smile out of a frown.

When I get so tired I cannot make it through the day
I imagine the moon and stars, imagine tonight what they will say.
The peaceful melody of chirping, the trees endless song
But wishing you were there beside me still makes it all wrong.

Princess In Black
10/21/03

Sitting in her black satin gown
Tears falling onto her black rose
Staring into the depths of the black waters
Watching as the ripples flow.
Depression is all she's ever known
And all she'll ever know
She can no longer push away
Her demons from long ago.
Out in the garden of the castle
She watches the prince's ball
She watches beautiful girls in pretty colors
Their biggest worry is that they might fall.
They don't know what it's like
To fall every day
Every day slipping farther
Slipping into disarray.
Her such sad eyes rest upon the prince
And a sense of longing overcomes her
Quickly then she lowers her eyes
The prince could never love her.
She turns her tear-stained face away from the light
Unable to bear life anymore
She looks back to the waters of the fountain
Wondering what she's here for
She has to get out of this place
She can't stay here any longer
Setting her black rose on the edge of the fountain
She wishes she were stronger.
So instead of joining the party
She runs into the dark woods
Twigs snagging and tearing her dress as she runs
Unable to escape the emptiness in her heart
Though she wishes she could.
She reaches a small clearing
Bathed in moonlight, the sky lit up with stars
Her dress is torn almost to her knees
Her shoes were lost back in the dark.
Her hair is falling out everywhere
She trips and falls to the ground
She's given up on everything
The strength to lift herself up cannot even be found
So she crawls to a large rock
And sits all alone
Her makeup smearing down her face
Down her cheeks black tears shone
A breeze began to ruffle her hair
Sending chills all the way through
When she felt a tap on her shoulder and a voice
"I believe this belongs to you."
Startled she falls to the ground,
Quickly wiping her face and her clothes
She looks up right into the prince's handsome face
And then sees in his hand, a black rose.
She takes his hand silently, staring into his eyes
Seeing an inner beauty that kept her in a trance
He passed the rose into her hands and said
"May I have this dance?"
And so they danced to the music
Of the dark and silent night
Twirling together, in perfect motion
Dancing for hours under the moonlight
So no matter how hard life gets
No matter how far down you think you are
No matter how many times you may fall
You've never fallen too far
And when you trip there's someone to catch you
In this world you're never alone
So dry your tears and wait for tomorrow
Who knows what's yet to come.

Watch Over Me
11/02/03

The stars come out
I watch them shine
I lay underneath them
Listening to their song all night
I listen to their story
Of other worlds of old
The story of creation
Of wisdom and knowledge untold.
The specks of light in the sky
They're so much more
They're infinity, the one thing you can count on
They're something to reach for.
I know I sound a little crazy
Maybe just a little desperate
But every night I lay there
Wishing for someone with whom to share it.
Because every night I lay there
And dream of other places and things
For a while forgetting the life I lead
For a while no worries about anything
For a while I can just be by myself with me.
Of all the things in this world
Stars are the only thing
That at the end of the day, you know for sure
They will be there, waiting.
The world is so unpredictable
But the stars have stability
Though your husband may leave you, your house may burn down
But you know the stars will always be.
So I lay in my bed and say a little prayer
Before I go to sleep
Through the tears of a broken life
I pray the stars watch over me.
